SCHOOL CROSSING GUARDS

Part Time and Substitute School Crossing Guards - Applications accepted Sept - April. No experience is required; however, applicants must be at least 18 years of age and possess a valid drivers license. Duties will be to cross children and pedestrians at area schools during the morning and afternoon. Starting salary of $8.50 per hour. Hours of Substitute Crossing Guards vary weekly. FEMALE DETENTION ATTENDANT

The Southampton Town Police Department is accepting applications year round for employment as Female Detention Attendant. No experience is required; however, basic computer skills are needed. Duties are to check on detainees held at the Southampton Town Police detention area on a regular basis and record their actions. Hours may vary with salary starting at $11.00 per hour. The Southampton Town Police Department is accepting applications January thru March for Traffic Control Officer positions. No experience is required; however, applicants must be at least seventeen years of age and possess a valid drivers license. Duties include, but are not limited to, issuing of parking summonses, management of vehicular and pedestrian traffic and assisting police operations. PART TIME POLICE OFFICERS

The Southampton Town Police Department accepts applications December thru March for employment as part time Police Officer. Applications must be submitted prior to April 1st of the calendar year. Applications received after April 1st will be held for the following year. No experience is required; however, applicants must be at least twenty years of age, possess a high school diploma or GED and a valid NYS drivers license. No written exam is required but applicants must pass Suffolk County Civil Service requirements for the position as well as a background investigation prior to entering the Suffolk County Police Academy. Salary starts at $18.00 per hour with most work hours concentrated from May 15th thru September 15th. CLERK TYPIST - SPANISH SPEAKING
The Town is accepting applications for a Clerk Typist – Spanish Speaking position.  The responsibilities of this position will include, but not be limited to, operating a computer, utilizing Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Govern; operating all office machinery i.e. photocopier, adding machine, microfiche machine; posting incoming mail on a daily basis in the computer; organizing and maintaining filing system within the Planning Division; clerical staff rotates processing of outgoing mail; rotates filing, copying and faxing of interoffice correspondence; typing Planning Board approval letters to the applicant/agent from the minutes and prepare Public Hearing Notices for the newspapers; calling applicant and/or agent to pickup Public Hearing Notice signs to be posted; e-mailing Public Hearing Notices to the Southampton Newspapers for publication; making multiple copies of correspondence for Planning Board members that are received in favor or against a project and copies of Notices from the Town Clerk’s office regarding local laws; answering phones, assisting person(s) at the front counter, and making copies as requested for the general public; upon request, files are retrieved from archives; assisting Spanish speaking individuals in filling out applications, answering questions regarding development applications and other related items within the Planning Division; providing translation services to Spanish speaking individuals; preparing office supply order form for Planning Division to be approved by Chief Planner; in charge of the Vendor Master File and IRS W-9 forms for the Planning Division; preparing vouchers for payment of, but not limited to, appraisals, release of maintenance/performance bonds and reimbursements associated with the Planning Division; vouchers must be signed by Administration Division; maintaining records of vouchers and invoices; performing other related duties as required.

The minimum qualifications for this position are:  Graduation from a standard senior high school or a high school equivalency diploma.  There will be a qualifying Spanish language examination and a qualifying keyboard performance examination.

The annual salary is $35,026.

RECREATION AIDE - PART TIME
Part Time work is available at the Town of Southampton’s Recreation Center (SYS) working with children in our after school programs. Age groups range from Kindergarten through 8th grade.

Hours: 3:00-6:00 pm / 3-5 afternoons per week

Salary: $8.00 / hour

MUNICIPAL WORKS ADMINISTRATOR


 

The Town is seeking a highly qualified professional to be the administrator of the Department of Municipal Works. The duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following: oversees the operation of the Town’s landfills and transfer stations; develops and implements efficient procedures and practices regarding the operation of an integrated recycling and waste disposal facility designed to reduce and recycle; responsible to plan, organize and direct the activities of the Town’s facilities management program for the renovation, maintenance and repair of buildings and facilities utilizing renewable energies and resources, and embracing sustainable practices; includes the initiation and implementation of policies and procedures as related to operations and monitoring various service contracts; establishes project management policies and procedures approved by the Town Board, and ensures the appropriate divisions – waste management, building and facilities, engineering - compliance with said policies and procedures; coordinates operations of outside contractors and vendors on municipal works related capital projects and ensures appropriate oversight; timely project completion and completion within established budget; determines which projects for waste management, building and facilities and engineering, should have high priority within the guidelines and policies set forth by the Town Board; provides periodic status reports to the Town Board; oversees the preparation of the operating and capital budgets for all divisions; conducts interviews for all personnel within the divisions and makes recommendations to the Town Board on appointments; oversees the annual evaluations of employees to determine the need for additional training requirements; makes recommendations to the Town Board on disciplinary issues up to and including termination of employment; and performs other related duties as required.

 

The minimum qualifications for this position are:  a) graduation from a New York State or regionally accredited college or university with a Bachelors degree in Engineering and four (4) years of administrative experience in construction or facilities management or the equivalent thereof; or b) graduation from a standard senior high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and eight (8) years of administrative experience; four (4) years of this experience must have been in construction or facilities management or the equivalent thereof; or c) An equivalent combination of education and experience as defined by the limits of a) and b).
