This in-depth organic gardening series features all the basic skills and knowledge needed to develop a sustainable vegetable garden from the ground up. Course literature and all materials provided. This course is a combination of classroom and fieldwork, be prepared to work outdoors during some sessions.

The Southampton Youth Bureau's Amerikids program is an opportunity for young children in grades K - 4 to make new friends, learn social skills and bullying prevention, do homework, arts & crafts, have snack, play games, and much more! Program meets every Monday at the Drop Spot, 655 Flanders Rd from 4:00pm - 7:00pm.

Southampton Town’s Youth Court is a very popular program and a great way to earn community service credits and build your college resume. High school students from local schools work together to hold real trials for juvenile offenders, where all the facts of the case are heard and the jury decides on a disposition, or “sentence”, for the offender to repair the harm that they have caused to the victims. Cases range from trespassing, driving without a license, underage drinking to harassment, possession, and theft - among others. Any teen in grades 9-12 living in the Town of Southampton can participate. Students who are interested in becoming an attorney, improving public speaking skills, learning about the justice system, building their college/job resume or just enjoy community service are invited to join. Southampton Town’s Youth Court program meets every Monday night, beginning Oct. 16, 2017 from 6:00pm -7:30pm at the Southampton Town Justice Court, 32 Jackson Ave.

Students are taught to challenge themselves, build self confidence, meet new friends, reduce stress, and learn strategy & discipline through the game of Chess. This program is free and open to grades K - 12.

It teaches bystanders how to safely intervene in instances where an incident may be occurring or where there may be risk." The Town of Southampton Youth Bureau is now accepting registrations for Act TWO. Through games and activities, participants learn improvisation, projection, public speaking, and issues pertinent to everyday life. Topics covered include making appropriate choices, acceptance, tolerance, bullying, drug and alcohol addiction, pregnancy prevention, etc. Skits are created and performed by students for other youth audiences. Act TWO is for teens in grades 7 – 12. Classes are held on Thursdays beginning September 14, 2017 and are held at the Hampton Bays Public Library, 52 Ponquogue Ave from 6:00pm – 7:30pm. On Saturday, October 28th the Southampton Youth Bureau & Southampton Youth Services (SYS) will be sponsoring “Fright Night” at the Town of Southampton Recreation Center, 1370a Majors Path in Southampton. Throughout the night, participants will experience the scare of Halloween by navigating their way through a path of horrors at SYS. If you’re up for the challenge, then stop by and register for the Southampton Youth Bureau’s escape room! Can you get out before the time runs out? Solve clues, puzzles, and riddles in order to find a way to escape. Family friendly hours will be held from 6:00pm – 7:30pm with children 11 years & under. From 8:00pm – 11:00pm youth ages 12 & up will be allowed to enter without parental supervision. Admission is $5.

If you are in grades 7th through 12th and interested in planning trips and events, doing community service projects, and making friends with students from other schools, then sign up for YAC! The Southampton Youth Bureau is looking for new members to join its Youth Advisory Committee, (YAC). As a YAC member, you can help make a difference in your community. Community service projects may include leaf raking for senior citizens, hosting a blood drive, meeting with elected officials in Albany for youth causes, participating in a sticker shock alcohol awareness campaign, or other activities that can make a difference in our community. YAC is a great way to get involved and to earn community service credit hours during the school year. Meetings are held every other Tuesday beginning September 19, 2017 at the Hampton Bays Community Center, 25 Ponquogue Avenue, from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm. Transportation is available upon request.
