  3. Act TWO Teen Community Theater

    April 25, 2019, 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM @ Hampton Bays Public Library

    The Town of Southampton Youth Bureau is now accepting registrations for Act TWO. Act TWO is a teen theater group that uses drama games and acting in investigating and problem solving. Students will learn using Crime Scene Investigating techniques in how to identify and resolve problems through improvisation, role playing, and group discussion. Skits are created and performed by students in 7th – 12th grade for other youth audiences. Classes are held on Thursdays beginning September 13, 2018 at the Hampton Bays Public Library, 52 Ponquogue Ave from 6:00pm – 7:30pm. Registration is ongoing but required in advance.   5. Band Applications Available Now! 17th Annual Battle of the Bands

    Band applications are now available for the Southampton Youth Bureau’s 17th Annual Battle of the Bands. This year’s competition will be held on Friday, June 14th 2019 (Rain Date: Friday, June 21st) at Ponquogue Beach in Hampton Bays from 8:00pm – 11:00pm. All applications and demo music must be received by 4:00pm on Friday, May 10th 2019 and can be sent or dropped off to:

  7. Registration Open! Summer Spy Camp

    Unleash your inner Sherlock Holmes and learn how to be a detective! The Town of Southampton Youth Bureau is currently accepting applications for their Summer Spy Camp at the Flanders Youth Center, 655 Flanders Road. Each week we will learn how to be a detective through crafts, movies, puzzles, and weekly field trips to Escape Rooms, the beach, police department and much more! Program begins July 1st and ends August 22nd and will be held Monday – Thursday from 12:30pm – 5:00pm. Youth going into grades 5 - 8 are eligible to participate - Proof of grade is required. Camp registration fee is $575/8 weeks (Price includes cost of field trips, lunch and supplies). Registration fee will be $525 per child if enrolled by Friday, April 26th.   9. Youth Court

    April 29, 2019, 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM @ Southampton Town Justice Court

    Youth Court is a very popular program and a great way to earn community service credits and build your college resume. Students work together to hold real trials for juvenile offenders, where all the facts of the case are heard and the jury decides on a disposition, or “sentence”, for the offender to repair the harm that they have caused to the victims. Cases range from trespassing, driving without a license, underage drinking to harassment, possession, and theft - among others.

    Any teen in grades 9 - 12 living in the Town of Southampton can participate. Students who are interested in becoming an attorney, improving public speaking skills, learning about the justice system, building their college/job resume or just enjoy community service are invited to join.

    Youth Court meets every Monday, beginning October 15th 2018 from 6:00pm -7:30pm at the Southampton Town Justice Court, 32 Jackson Ave. Transportation is available east of the Shinnecock canal.

  10. Creative Arts Contest: Mental Health Awareness

    April 30, 2019, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM @ Flanders Community Center

    Mental health issues are a common part of our lives. The Southampton Youth Bureau’s getting the conversation started about Mental Health through this year’s Creative Arts Contest. The contest is open to students in grades 5 – 12 who reside or attend school in the Town of Southampton. Art work will be judged on quality, creativity, and presentation based on the artist’s portrayal of “Mental Health Awareness”. All art entries (maximum of two entries per artist) must be dropped off at the Southampton Youth Bureau’s main office at the Flanders Community Center or at the Citizens’ Response Center in Southampton Town Hall by Tuesday, April 30th. Participating artists are invited to bring their families and friends to the final exhibit at the Water Mill Center, 39 Water Mill Towd Rd on Wednesday, May 15th from 6:00pm – 7:30pm. Prizes will be awarded to the “Best Art Piece” in the categories of photography, graphic art, sculpture, and free-hand. Light refreshments will be served.
