The Southampton Youth Bureau will be sponsoring a 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament on Friday, March 23rd 2018 from 7:00pm - 10:00pm at the SYS Recreation Center, 1370A Majors Path. This event is open to all students in 5th through 12th grade. Prizes will be awarded to the winning teams in middle and high school brackets. Proof of age is required. Pre-register by Thursday, March 22nd 2018 for $15 per team by submitting a completed form and payment to the Southampton Youth Bureau located at 116 Hampton Road or register at the door from 6:00pm – 6:45pm for $30 per team. Space is limited so pre-register early! Admission is free for non-players and $2 roundtrip transportation is available from several locations. The Southampton Youth Bureau’s Creative Arts Contest is back! This year’s theme is “Diversity”. The contest is open to students in grades 5 – 12 who reside in the Town of Southampton. An exhibit and reception will be held on Saturday, May 12th from 1:00pm – 3:00pm at the Flanders Community Center, 655 Flanders Road which will feature all submitted art work. Prizes will be awarded to the “Best Art Piece” in the categories of photography, graphic art, sculpture, and free-hand. Artists can submit a maximum of two entries. Art work will be judged on quality, creativity, and presentation based on the artist’s interpretation of “Diversity”. All art entries must be dropped off at the youth bureau’s main office in Southampton Town Hall, 116 Hampton Road by Monday, April 30th 2018. Bakers in grades 5 – 12 are invited to prepare and submit their home baked entries for the Southampton Youth Bureau’s ‘Bake Yourself Happy’ Baking Competition. Exhibit and judging will be held from 3:00pm – 5:00pm on Saturday, April 14th at the Hampton Bays Community Center, 25 Ponquogue Ave. This year’s theme is “Keep Southampton Beautiful” and is based on 3 categories: cupcakes, cookies, and muffins. Prizes will be awarded in each category and entries will be judged on consistency, flavor, and presentation. Registration is required and must be submitted by Wednesday, April 11th. Bakers and their entries must be present by 2:30pm on Saturday, April 14th and a minimum of 18 items is required for submission. Students are taught to challenge themselves, build self confidence, meet new friends, reduce stress, and learn strategy & discipline through the game of Chess. This program is free and open to grades K - 12.

The Town of Southampton Youth Bureau is now accepting registrations for Act TWO. Through games and activities, participants learn improvisation, projection, public speaking, and issues pertinent to everyday life. Topics covered include making appropriate choices, acceptance, tolerance, bullying, drug and alcohol addiction, pregnancy prevention, etc. Skits are created and performed by students for other youth audiences. Act TWO is for teens in grades 7 – 12. Classes are held on Thursdays beginning September 14, 2017 and are held at the Hampton Bays Public Library, 52 Ponquogue Ave from 6:00pm – 7:30pm.
