    Youth Court is a very popular program and a great way to earn community service credits and build your college resume. Students from local schools work together to hold trials for juvenile offenders, where all the facts of the case are heard and the jury decides on a disposition, or “sentence”, for the offender to repair the harm that they have caused to the victims. Cases range from trespassing, driving without a license, underage drinking to harassment, possession, and theft - among others. Any teen in grades 9-12 living in the Town of Southampton can participate. Students who are interested in becoming an attorney, improving public speaking skills, learning about the justice system, building their college/job resume or just enjoy community service are invited to join. Southampton Town’s Youth Court program meets every Monday from 6:00pm -7:30pm at the Southampton Town Justice Court, 32 Jackson Ave. Transportation is available to youth living east of the Shinnecock canal.

    If you are in grades 7th through 12th and interested in planning trips and events, doing community service projects, and making friends with students from other schools, then sign up for YAC! The Southampton Youth Bureau is looking for new members to join its Youth Advisory Committee, (YAC). As a YAC member, you can help make a difference in your community. Community service projects may include leaf raking for senior citizens, hosting a blood drive, meeting with elected officials in Albany for youth causes, participating in a sticker shock alcohol awareness campaign, or other activities that can make a difference in our community. Youth Advisory Committee is a great way to get involved and to earn community service credit hours during the school year. Meetings are held the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of every month at the Hampton Bays Community Center, 25 Ponquogue Avenue, from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm.     The Town of Southampton Youth Bureau will be holding open auditions for their annual Hamptons Got Talent Competition on Friday, January 13th at the Hampton Bays Community Center, 25 Ponquogue Avenue, Thursday, January 19th at Southampton Town Hall, 116 Hampton Road, and on Tuesday, January 24th at the Flanders Community Center, 655 Flanders Road. Auditions will run from 4:30pm – 6:30pm on all three dates. Students in grades 5-12, residing in the Township of Southampton are eligible to enter. Solo artists, bands, dance groups, magicians, comedians, and other artistic acts are encouraged to audition. If a contestant chooses to sing at an audition, he or she must be prepared to bring music without vocals. Auditions for MC will also be held on all three dates as well. Finalists selected will perform in the 4th Annual Hamptons Got Talent Competition which will be held on March 17th, 2017 at the Hampton Bays High School, 88 East Argonne Rd.
