Third Party billing informational meeting for Flanders/Northampton Ambulance
More than 50 people attended an informational meeting by the Flanders/Northampton Volunteer Ambulance Company before the Southampton Town Board in Flanders. The Ambulance Company is asking the Town Board to approve a third party billing system. Third party billing would charge the patient’s health insurance for the ride to the hospital. The ambulance company claims this would reduce the unfair burden on taxpayers in the district because many of the calls come from non-residents from the County Center, the Suffolk County Court building and the Jail. The ambulance company has agreed to do more community outreach to measure community support for the proposal before it could be brought before the public hearing process and a possible vote by the Town Board later this year.
