PRESS RELEASE Sept. 11, 2018Contact: Connie Conway(631) 702-1743
The Riverside/Flanders community participated in the initial design phase of the Riverside Maritime Trail Park along the Peconic River as part of the Flanders, Riverside, and Northampton Community Association (FRNCA) meeting September 10th at 7pm at the Crohan Community Center at 655 Flanders Road in Flanders.
The Riverside Maritime Trail Park and Wetland Restoration project is planned for the 14 acre Suffolk County Park Property located on the Peconic River in Riverside. Araiys Design, the landscape architects hired by the Town, met with several dozen community members to review possible design features to be incorporated into the park.
The design group will return to the community on October 16th with a rough draft of what the ideas from the charrette process might be included in the design concept. That meeting is also scheduled for the Crohan Center at 6pm. At that point in the process, the community will have further input into the final design phase.
The architects will then present their plan to the Town Board in a work session scheduled for November 15th at 6pm at the Crohan Center with 90 percent of the design phase completed. Town Board members and members of the community will still get a chance to tweak some of the ideas before the final plan is approved and the project moves into the bidding process and construction phase.
