Mission & Responsibilities

  • In pursuit of fulfilling our mission, the Southampton Town Police Department provides a full service patrol force, responding to citizen calls for service of both a criminal and non-criminal nature, criminal investigation, and staffing of the E-911 dispatch system, 24 hours a day, 365 days per year.

  • The department is responsible for providing police services to the 122 square miles of unincorporated Southampton Town, inclusive of over 430 miles of roadways and 4 distinct coast lines. The department provides services to a permanent population of over 54,000 residents, which often more than triples on weekends and during the summer months.

  • To foster our partnership with the community, the department reaches out to serve the community with many additional programs and services. These service programs include DARE, Crime Prevention, Neighborhood Watch, a Citizens Police Academy, and representation on numerous advisory groups, panels, and committees.
