9-11-01 10th Anniversary Commemorative Event

On Sunday, September 11, 2011, Southampton, along with the rest of our nation, will observe the 10th Anniversary of 9 -11- 01.This community-wide commemorative event will take place at the Southampton Fire Department’s Hampton Road Station beginning at 11 AM.

The event will include the dedication of the firehouse’s 9 – 11 Memorial constructed of steel from World Trade Center concluding with the raising of a flag that was flown over the Capitol Building in Washington D.C. Attending the event will be representatives from the villages, town, county, state and federal governments and first responder units from throughout the town.

All community members are invited to join in this very special event remembering this significant day in our nation’s history. Community members should be aware that, as part of this event, Hampton Road from David White’s Lane to CR 39 will be closed from 9 A.M. to approximately 1:30 P.M. and detour signs will be posted.

For those attending the event designated parking areas will be established close to the firehouse and shuttle buses will be provided to and from the event.

We hope many in our community can join us. Thank you.
