STOP Day Scheduled for Westhampton on June 30th
Free Hazardous Waste Disposal at Town Transfer Station
At the end of the month, Southampton Town residents will have the opportunity to dispose
of hazardous waste items free of charge at the transfer station in Westhampton.
Offered as part of the Town’s Stop Throwing Out Pollutants (STOP) program, residents
can discard oil-based paints, pesticides, household cleaners, automotive fluids, pool chemicals,
photography chemicals, driveway sealant, roofing tar, and other items that are inflammable,
corrosive, reactive, or toxic. However, commercial waste is prohibited.
WHAT: Stop Throwing Out Pollutants (STOP) Day
WHERE: Westhampton Transfer Station, 66 Old Country Road, Southampton
WHEN: Saturday, June 30, 2012, 9:00am to 4:00pm
WHO: Town of Southampton Waste Management Division, 283-5210
STOP days occur four times per year, once at each of Town’s waste facilities.
After the June 30 event at Westhampton, others will be held at Sag Harbor on August 25, and Hampton Bays on October 27.
Disposal at other times is regulated by state and federal environmental law and not permitted.
