The “Hometown Heroes Banner Program” is an initiative between the Town of Southampton and the Westhampton VFW Post 5350 to recognize the service and sacrifices made by our service men and women.
Participants in the “Hometown Heroes Banner Program” will be able to honor their hometown hero who is currently serving or has served in the U.S. Military, and is or was a resident in the Town of Southampton, by sponsoring and purchasing a custom banner from Westhampton VFW Post 5350. Cost of the eighteen by thirty-six-inch banner will be $200, with a portion of the proceeds to be administered by Westhampton VFW Post 5350 to benefit local veterans organizations or to assist families with a banner purchase. All program sponsors will keep their banner at the end of the program period.
The program will run from Memorial Day through Veterans Day at Good Ground Park in Hampton Bays. The first round of banners will be on display in Good Ground Park from Memorial Day to early August and the second round of banners will be on display from August through Veterans Day.
Banner applications are first come first serve, with one banner per sponsor. At the end of the program period, program sponsors will be able to pick up their banner at Southampton Town Hall in the Housing and Community Services Department.
