Law Enforcement Career Exploring Program

Law Enforcement Career Exploring Program

Law Enforcement Career Exploring is a national program that provides educational training programs for young adults on the purposes, mission, and objectives of law enforcement. The primary goals of the program are to help young adults choose a career path within law enforcement and to challenge them to become responsible citizens of their communities and the nation. Law Enforcement Career Exploring is open to young men and women ages 14 and not yet 21 years old with an interest in learning more about careers in the field of law enforcement.

Agencies from federal, state, and local levels coordinate the programs throughout the United States. The majority of the community programs, however, are managed by local police departments. Nationally, over 33,000 Explorers and over 8,400 adult volunteers participate in Law Enforcement Career Exploring. Participants learn, among other skills, leadership, respect for police officers, personal skills, marksmanship, and law enforcement protocols.
