WEATHER-RELATED ANNOUNCEMENTS AND ADVISORIES
HIGH RIP CURRENT RISK: Dangerous and life-threatening rip currents are expected due to Hurricane Erin passing to the south of our shoreline. Swimming is prohibited; even the most experienced swimmers can be swept away from shore into deeper waters.
HIGH SURF ADVISORY: Large breaking waves up to 16 feet are possible during this time. Localized beach erosion and flooding conditions are also to be expected.
ATTENTION:
State, County, and other local governmental units have declared an emergency in preparation for the effects of Hurricane Erin. Declaration of emergency has included the closure of all beaches within the geographic territory of the Town of Southampton, including its incorporated villages;
There shall be no 4x4 driving on the Atlantic Beaches from 8:00 AM on Tuesday, August 20, 2025 through 9:00 AM, August 23, 2025; this declaration may be extended after consultation with public safety agencies of the Town of Southampton and the County of Suffolk.
