The Town of Southampton will participate in the annual National Recovery Month during the month of September to help educate the public that substance use treatment and mental health services are available and can enable those with mental and substance use disorders to live healthy and rewarding lives. The Board will vote on a resolution to authorize September 2021 as “Voices of Recovery” Month within the Town of Southampton in observance of national Recovery Month.
The Town of Southampton Addiction and Recovery Committee will join four local advocacy groups to help those who have lost loved ones to substance abuse or suicide and to honor those in recovery. Members of the Committee and local elected officials will join members from Safe in Sag Harbor, HUGS, Inc., THRIVE and the LI-Addiction Resource Center to kick off the month-long observation by lighting two area windmills, Sag Harbor Windmill and Watermill Windmill, in purple-the color to honor those in recovery.
