Councilman John Bouvier is pleased to announce the continuation of the Partnership to Reuse Program at the North Sea Transfer Station.  The program, which launched last year, encourages Town Residents to drop off new or slightly used furniture, appliances, kitchen cabinets and building materials that will then be resold at the Suffolk ReStore in Ronkonkoma, with proceeds supporting affordable housing projects.

“This was a very successful program and I’m happy to continue it,” said Councilman Bouvier.  “It supports two very important goals for the Town, reducing our waste stream and increasing our affordable housing inventory.   It’s another step forward in our efforts to promote sustainability in the Town.”

“Last year, we successfully partnered with the Town of Southampton to keep functional and usable items out of the landfills and help build more affordable homes in Suffolk County with the proceeds generated from the sale of these items.  We are thrilled to have this program back this year,” stated Lee Silberman, CEO/Executive Director of Habitat of Humanity of Suffolk.

Southampton Town Residents can drop off items at the North Sea Transfer Station on Wednesdays from 10am-2pm.  Commercial entities and contractors can participate by contacting Habitat for Humanity of Suffolk directly to arrange for free pick-ups.

For more information on the Residential Reuse Program, contact Councilman John Bouvier at 631-287-5745 or Courtney Collins at 631-459-3964 or courtney@habitatsuffolk.org.
