We have had another successful year of the Great East End Cleanup due to volunteers picking up litter and debris throughout the Town of Southampton. The event has taken place on the weekend of Earth Day and has attracted many residents to cleanup locations such as roadsides, trails, parks, and beaches. During this year’s cleanup, hundreds of volunteers picked up over 7 tons of garbage, metal and large objects such as tires from Eastport to Sagaponack.
Councilman Martel went to various cleanups from Eastport to Sag Harbor and joined groups such as the Boy Scouts Troop 483, Southampton Town Youth Bureau, Friends for Peconic Preservation and Speonk Neighbors. “Each year we have done this event, it’s great to see more and more people being engaged in keeping our town clean.” said Councilman Martel. “Our town is a unique and scenic place and I am happy to see the dedication towards keeping it clean”.
