The Southampton Town Police Department has formally welcomed three newly-minted recruits into its ranks this week. After seven months in the Suffolk County Police Academy, the trio graduated on April 28, completing more than 1,000 hours of instruction in law, emergency medical services, domestic violence, mental illness, cultural diversity, terrorism, and body camera technology. They will work as seasonal police officers (SPOs) the East End’s largest township, providing law enforcement coverage in Southampton’s 17 hamlets and two of its villages.
