A very moving tribute to those lost to the opioid crisis was held in Hampton Bays. Several dozen people turned out for the candle light vigil held by the Southampton Town Opioid Addiction Task Force at Good Ground Park Saturday, May 12th. Candles encircled the stage to represent the 359 people lost to opioids in Suffolk County in 2017. The larger candles represent the 19 lost in 2017 in Southampton Town. The one candle at the center honors the only life lost in Southampton Town in 2018, giving those in attendance some hope that we may be nearing the end of the opioid crisis.
