Southampton Town Inspects Motels For Heat And Hot Water Violations
As the winter approaches, the Town Southampton wants to make sure rental properties at several motels are in compliance with heating regulations. Town Code Enforcement officers recently conducted a heating inspection of a number of motels and found that most of them were in compliance with proper heat and hot water functions.
Fifteen properties were inspected, ten were found to be in compliance with Town Code. But five motels were found to be providing inadequate heat and the owners were issued Field Appearance Tickets. Two of them allegedly had no heat at all. Those properties are: 623 E. Montauk Highway in Shinnecock Hills and 223 Flanders Road in Riverside, and they were brought into immediate compliance.
“There is no excuse to not provide adequate heat and hot water in the colder winter months,” said Steven Troyd, Town Code Compliance and Emergency Management Administrator. “We intend to monitor these motels to make sure they are providing a safe environment for their occupants.”
