The Town of Southampton will host an Earth Day Festival at Good Ground Park, 9a Squiretown Road in Hampton Bays on Saturday, May 4th from 11am to 3pm. There will be fun for the whole family.
The day kicks off with a Holiday Tree dedication at 11am. The tree is being donated by a local nursery and will lighted each year as part of the winter holiday season.
At 11:30, participants are invited to go on a nature walk through the Park’s walking trail, sponsored by the Southampton Trails Preservation Society and the Audubon Society.
At noon and again at 1pm, visitors can learn about composting from a master gardener.
Also, at 1pm, there will be a Yoga class for adults and children. Don’t forget to bring your mats!
At 1:30, there will be an organic lawn fertilizer demonstration. Learn how you can take care of your lawn by using organic ingredients.
At 2:00 pm, get into the spirit of Earth Day with a Ukulele ensemble that will be sure to get you on your feet. These are some talented kids!
Throughout the park there will be demonstrations that include pottery making, how to assemble bath bombs, face painting and exhibits from some eco-friendly vendors, including Surfrider Foundation, Seed Saver Exchange and Cornell Cooperative Extension of Suffolk County, to name a few.
