The Town of Southampton was one of the first
communities in New York State to install LED street lighting and the program is
already saving energy and reducing greenhouse gases.
As the Town Parks and Recreation Director is proud to announce the conversion of 2,580 street lights is saving the Town annually:
- 1,066,977 kWh
- Energy savings $168,369.81
- Maintenance savings $100,000.00
- Total savings $268,369.81
- Total Project cost $1,922.538.51
According to the New York Power Authority, that’s the equivalent of taking 160 cars off the road. “We are proud to have been one of the first communities in New York State to implement LED Lighting,” said Parks Director Kristen Doulos. “These are real cost savings and tangible results to protect our environment.”
NYPA financed the project during construction. The monthly savings is greater than the
monthly loan payments. With these
savings, the project will payback in just over 7 years.
