The Town of Southampton has determined, in an abundance of caution, to engage in a limited temporary suspension of certain services at its Senior Centers.
Beginning Monday, March 16th through Friday, March 20th, the Town’s Senior Centers at Hampton Bays, Flanders, and Bridgehampton will temporarily suspend their Congregant Dining and Recreation activities for the week. While these services are interrupted, the Town will assess how to proceed regarding provision of services, or determine if a longer-term shut-down is necessary.
Prior to the end of the week, a follow-up announcement will be made updating the situation and announcing any changes.
Seniors who participate in Congregant Dining services will have the option to sign up to receive cold-but-microwave/oven ready meals either through home delivery or curbside pick-up at the Center where the senior normally takes their meals. Seniors can register for home meals either at their center or by contacting the center they typically attend or the Hampton Bays Senior Center at 631-728-1235.
In spite of the limited interruption of services, the Town’s Senior Services will continue to provide the following services to our senior community:
- Adult Day Care at the Hampton Bays Senior Center
- Senior Shuttle Services
- Home Meal Delivery (note if a senior is already registered for home-delivered meals, there is no need to sign up again)
“We are being cautious and working to determine how the Town can continue to serve our seniors while keeping everyone as safe and healthy as possible,” said Southampton Town Supervisor Jay Schneiderman.
