Governor Andrew M. Cuomo has extended the property tax deadline to June 22nd for the second half of taxes that would have been due May 31st. The order comes at the same time that Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone has requested the Governor further extend it to July 15th. There has been no decision on that request.
County Executive Bellone had put together a working group of elected officials and business leaders, including Southampton Town Supervisor Jay Schneiderman to come up with a workable plan to send to the Governor requesting the July 15th deadline extension.
In the meantime, Tax Receiver Theresa Kiernan said, “For taxpayers convenience the Tax Receiver’s office will accept payments tomorrow, Saturday May 30th , from 9:00am to 12:00pm, and on Monday June 1st , from 8:30am to 6:00pm.”
