In honor of Veterans Day, Councilwoman Julie Lofstad unveiled the first designated Military and Veteran parking space at Town Hall today. As the liaison to the Veterans Affairs Committee, Councilwoman Lofstad led the initiative to designate five parking spaces at various locations within the Town to be reserved for military and veterans.
“These spaces not only show our appreciation and admiration of our veterans, but also our active military members,” said Councilwoman Lofstad. “It’s a way of saying, thank you for your service.”
“This is an ongoing thank you that people will see every day,” said William Hughes, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Commander “All American” Post 5350. “We may not know who these veterans are, they all may look a little different; some may be young women, some may be older men, but they are all veterans.”
The parking signs will be located at Southampton Town Hall, Bridgehampton Municipal Parking Lot, Hampton Bays Post Office, Southampton Youth Services in North Sea, and Southampton Town Parks and Recreation Office in Hampton Bays.
