Hello Friends of Honor Flight Long Island
We had another great HONOR FLIGHT LONG ISLAND trip on Saturday, May 11 with 12 WWII Veterans and 38 Korean War Veterans on board .
This was the earliest departure we’ve ever “endured.” But everyone made it through and by the time the bagpipes welcomed our Veterans back at MacArthur Airport everyone appeared renewed and excited including the great crowd of well-wishers that assembled to greet our guys!!
I’ll bet it didn’t take long to get to sleep once everyone made it home though!!
Thank you to EVERYONE for showing up... we certainly couldn’t do it without the help of so many family members and friends of Honor Flight.
Next up is our Flight Reunion scheduled on Saturday, August 10 from 11am – 1 pm at the American Airpower Museum in Farmingdale. This is when we present our May 11 Honor Flight Veterans with their Tribute Journal full of great photos collected during the flight. Friends and family are invited and encouraged to come early to see the museum’s exhibit. We’ll have light refreshments available but suggest you think of this as another day to celebrate our Veterans and maybe plan to treat your Vet to a nice family lunch somewhere afterward.
We will fly again on Saturday, September 21. The WWII and Korean War Veterans still on our wait list will be invited.
About 140 Vietnam Veterans are waiting to fly. We expect they will be called to participate in the Spring, 2020.
So what can you do to help? Help us recruit Veterans who have NOT seen their national memorials!
And, of course, we’re always happy and very grateful
to accept donations that will Fuel Our Flights.Be sure to check our website for flight schedules, details about our flight returns, info about the reunions and for all of the great Honor Flight Long Island photos.https://honorflightlongisland.org/
Here comes Summer. Be safe. Take care.
Thanks for your support!!
