1. Where does my child go to get working papers?

Your son or daughter can get working papers from the comprehensive high school located in your neighborhood. Each high school has a designated school official that issues working papers.

2. Where are the Town’s Youth Centers located and what are their hours?

The Flanders “Drop Spot” Center is located at 655 Flanders Rd, Flanders. Hours are after school and on Saturdays. Call the Drop Spot directly at 702-2392 to get current hours and program information.

The North Sea “Path” Center is located in the SYS Building at 1370A Majors Path, North Sea. Hours are evenings and Saturdays. Call the Path directly at 283-6045 to get current hours and program information.

The Youth Bureau’s main line is 702-2425.

3. I’m confused about the Southampton Youth Bureau, SYS, and SYA. Are they the same agency?

The Southampton Youth Bureau is part of Southampton Town government, and provides youth development programs and services to all residents of Southampton Township. We can be reached at 631-702-2425.

SYS stands for Southampton Youth Services, which is a private, non-profit organization that operates the Southampton Town Recreation Center on Major’s Path in North Sea. They can be reached at 631-287-1511.

SYA stands for Southampton Youth Association, which is also a private non-profit organization and serves residents of Southampton and Tuckahoe School Districts offering recreational programs. They can be reached at 631-283-6873.

4. Where can I find information about Youth Bureau programs?

On our website, Facebook, Activities Online Payment Page or by calling and leaving a message. The website provides brief descriptions of all our programs. Further questions will be answered by talking with our staff, who will call you back as soon as possible after you leave a message at 631-702-2425. Office Hours: 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

5. How can I pay for a Youth Bureau program or event?

Online:
Online registrations are now available! Payments may be paid with Visa, MasterCard, Discover or American Express. All online registrations will be subject to a 2.5% non-refundable convenience fee. To register online, please visit www.southamptontownny.gov/YBpayment 

In Person/By Mail
Bring or mail a completed registration form and payment to our office;

Arrangements can also be made to drop-off payment at one of our youth centers by calling and speaking to one of our staff.

6. Where is the Youth Bureau located?

The Youth Bureau main office is located at the Flanders Community Center (Lower Level) 655 Flanders Rd, Flanders, NY 11901. Youth Centers are located at SYS, 1370A Majors Path, North Sea, and at 655 Flanders Road, Flanders (Upper Level).  Programs are held at various sites, including Justice Court, Hampton Bays Community Center, Ponquogue Beach, Ludlam Park, and Red Creek Park.

7. Can I get information about Parks and Recreation Department programs from the Youth Bureau?

Questions regarding Parks and Recreation programs and trips, or about employment at town parks and beaches, should be directed to the Parks Department directly at 631-728-8585.

8. Is transportation to Youth Bureau programs available?

Yes, for some programs transportation is available from various schools and Town sites. Usually there is a fee of $1 for each ride. All program publicity should indicate whether or not there will be transportation provided and what the cost will be.

9. How can I find out what social services are available for children, youth, and families in Southampton Town?

The Youth Bureau publishes a Youth Yellow Pages Guide that is available on our website. You can get this guide mailed to you by calling 631-702-2425 and leaving your name and address. You can also talk to a youth counselor by calling 631-702-2425 and leaving your name and number.
