I can’t pay my taxes right now. Will I lose my property?
Probably not. The Suffolk County Treasurer will typically initiate tax collection procedures on vacant land after one year, and on improved properties after three years of non-payment. Even if the County does acquire a property for non-payment, there is a still time to redeem a property. As this is a procedure of Suffolk County, more information can be obtained by calling 631-852-3000.
