Southampton Town Disability Services Resource Fair
Saturday, November 2, 12-3pm - Hampton Bays Senior Center
The Southampton Town Disability Task Force (DAFT) and the Southampton Union Free School District are hosting a free Disability Services Resource Fair on Saturday, November 2nd from 12-3pm at the Hampton Bays Senior Center located at 25 Ponquogue Avenue in Hampton Bays.
All are welcome to stop by to learn about community resources, connect with service providers, advocates, and support groups. There will be activities for kids throughout the day with the Southampton Town Youth Bureau and Youth Advisory Committee, a “You Belong” art project, and presentations by Self-Initiated Living Options, Inc. (SILO) and Parent to Parent of NYS. Representatives from state and local community organizations will be on hand to answer questions and share information about services and resources for people with disabilities.
Councilmember Michael Iasilli, who is liaison to the Disability Taskforce stated, “This event will be an important step in connecting residents in need with the appropriate services. It’s also to demonstrate to families and individuals with special needs, your local government is here for you.”
The DATF seeks to improve the quality of life for persons with disabilities by hosting events, creating forums for public discussion, connecting individuals with services, and raising awareness of issues that have a disproportionate effect upon persons with disabilities. The Town recently published a Resource Guide that provides a range of various resources in the public and private sector.
