On Thursday, June 26, 2025, the Southampton Town Board came together with Legislator Ann Welker, Town Clerk Sundy Schermeyer, Tracy Kolsin from the Southampton Town Youth Bureau, the Programs Director of the LGBT Network, Micah Schneider, gathered at the memorial for Edith Windsor to celebrate Pride Month by hosting a press conference.
This event provided an opportunity to honor the resilience, contributions, and visibility of the LGBTQ+ community, while also recognizing the significant impact of Edith Windsor’s advocacy.
In front of Southampton Town Hall stands a beautiful heart-shaped memorial made up of 220 smaller interlocking hearts. This remarkable memorial not only acts as a lasting tribute to Edith Windsor but will also serve as a peaceful venue for civil marriage ceremonies.
