Councilman Tommy John Schiavoni wishes to remind everyone about the press conference/rally in support of increasing train service to the South Fork Commuter Connection (SFCC).
The South Fork Commuter Coalition, made up of elected officials, leaders in education, teachers, those in the medical field, and the business community, along with loyal riders of the SFCC has formed to urge the Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) to increase train service on the South Fork by adding train sidings on the Montauk line.
The “Rally for the Rails” is being held on Friday, May 17, 2024 at the Hampton Bays train station. The event will begin as the westbound SFCC train arrives at the station at 3:43 pm. Speakers will voice support for the MTA/LIRR to add this project to their five year capital plan, in order for the necessary infrastructure improvements to be installed to increase train service for the South Fork.

- Southampton Town Supervisor Maria Moore
- East Hampton Town Supervisor Kathee Burke-Gonzalez

Councilman Schiavoni notes, “This is an important first step in helping to solve the transportation crisis that we are experiencing on the South Fork. Increased train service will go a long way in improving the quality of life for commuters and residents alike.”
